INTERLIBRARY LOAN
The public is invited to use all genealogical materials found in the Special Collections Room, but materials may not be checked out or removed from the room (although the public is welcome to print, photocopy and/or scan materials. Additionally, interlibrary loans are available.
The Genealogy Collection, including books, periodicals and microforms, is cataloged on WYLDCat (Wyoming Libraries Database catalog), which features a surname index of the collection. LDS Family History Center microfilms on loan are listed in a notebook. The Genealogy Collection includes:
The public can access and search subscription genealogy databases such as Ancestry Library Edition, Heritage Quest, New England Ancestors and Digital Sanborn Maps in the Special Collections Room.
The room also provides access to genealogy websites as FamilySearch.com, Ellis Island, Cyndi's List, U.S. GenWeb and more.
To enrich this area, the library welcomes gifts of books and periodicals relating to genealogy, Laramie County history or Wyoming history. Additionally, tax-deductible donations may be made directly to the Laramie County Library Foundation. The room's volunteers donate their gifts of time and expertise, and genealogists interested in sharing their expertise are also encouraged to volunteer. Most states are represented in the periodicals collection, which includes:
The microfiche collection consists primarily of University Microfilm's
Genealogy and Local History collection. This resource contains thousands
of titles, including family histories, local histories, genealogical periodicals,
and vital records from the 13 original colonies. The library also owns
the Boston Transcripts on microfiche, and has a growing number of miscellaneous
fiche and films.
Laramie County Library genealogy materials may be loaned to other libraries under certain conditions.
Genealogy resources not in our collection may be borrowed by our patrons
from another library.
