Ongoing Objectives and Programs
The Foundation is always looking for creative ways to capture the public's imagination and give
them profound reasons for donating to the variety of services, programs and other vital needs of the
library, when the tax dollars can't fund all of the public's needs and requests
Making Library Wishes Come True
Each year, the Laramie County Library System presents the Foundation with a Wish List. This list includes items needed for library services and programs that are not covered by the tax dollar. Your donations are immensely appreciated to help us fill these needs:
$10,000 for a Microfiche/film reader/printer/scanner
The library has access to small, older model equipment that will perform the tasks of this one piece of equipment. No one reader/printer/scanner in our present inventory can do it all, and the machines we are using do not have the capacity to complete tasks of varying and larger size projects. This machine would be in constant use, primarily by the numerous and active patrons in our Genealogy area, but is also a popular need for the entire public. The cost will be determined by the model and features selected. This fund has $7,400 as of March 20, 2006.
Annual, special, ongoing programs that only continue to grow in popularity, use, and need for funding. Below are the minimum needs for FY06:
- $10,000 for the Summer Reading Celebration
- $3,000 for the Winter Reading Program
- $5,000 for Books for Babies
- $1,500 for the Mother/Daughter and Parent/Child Book Clubs (a total of four clubs)
- $2,000 to purchase an LCD projector for patron rentals
"Where most needed" is the most popular funding category:
The LCL Foundation has many requests to fund routine needs and/or emergencies, not covered by tax dollars, which might include:
- Unexpected equipment replacements or additions, including computers
- Replacing broken/worn out furniture
- Popular programs in need of expansion - costs for materials
- An increase in the collection
- Upgrading shelving (especially for the new building)
- Software for technology updates to keep current with patron usage and expectations.
