Library Releases Public Meeting Report and Building Situation Update
CHEYENNE - After weeks spent organizing information, the library has released the second report from its series of public meetings.
The report, which concerns potential locations for the Laramie County Library facility, is now available to the public. Interested parties can peruse a copy at the Laramie County Library's Information Desk, 2800 Central Ave. in Cheyenne.
"There was an extraordinary amount of information to compile from the public meetings," County Librarian Lucie Osborn said. "We've been fortunate enough to utilize volunteer services to tabulate this information into an easily-readable format."
The Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC) met earlier this month to discuss the potential sites and narrowed the list to four viable options from 57 suggested sites, using criteria determined by the LCLS Board of Directors through the public's input.
The FAC's report will be forwarded to the board at its regular August meeting. The FAC also will recommend that the board issue an RFP for an architect to assist in the further study of these options.
The board will evaluate this list at its August regular meeting and will examine ways to initiate a detailed study of the sites on this short list.
Members of the Laramie County Library Facilities Advisory Committee are Chairman Jack Mueller, Vice Chair Tina Lackey, Sandra Donovan, Phil Kiner, Tom Kraner, Michl McGee, Dorothy Middleton, Debbie Oliez, Randy Weiss, Larry Wolfe, Carey Hartmann, Lucie Osborn and Board Liaison Barbara Rogers.
By early next year, the library will host a new series of public meetings exploring the community's needs and wants in a new or improved library facility.
Throughout this entire process, the public is welcome to offer suggestions and comments by contacting any member of the FAC or the LCLS Board of Directors by calling 635-1032, ext. 121, or by e-mailing building@larm.lib.wy.us.
