Library System Holds Public Meetings Regarding Future of Laramie County Library Cheyenne
As the Laramie County Library System prepares to either enhance or relocate its Laramie County Library facility, the library management and board of directors are offering a number of public meetings around Laramie County to gain community input about the situation.
The purpose of these meetings is to discuss location criteria and potential sites for a new or improved Laramie County Library facility. These public meetings will feature a brainstorming session with the County Librarian, a member of the Laramie County Library System board of directors and a member of the Facilities Advisory Committee. All citizens are encouraged to attend.
We want to offer as many opportunities for public input as possible, County Librarian Lucie Osborn said. Sharyn Guthridge, chair of the Laramie County Library System Board of Directors, added: "Although we have been working on this project for a number of years, we believe that we must clear the slate and return to square one to ensure that Laramie County residents have an opportunity to thoroughly express their views."
The meetings are divided into two themes: criteria for a library location and potential sites for the Laramie County Library. To help keep the meetings focused and productive, information regarding potential sites will not be discussed at the criteria meeting.
During criteria meetings, the public is invited to share its thoughts on potential criteria for selecting a Laramie County Library site, ranging from broad (e.g. central location, proximity to major thoroughfare) to detailed (quality of soil, access to utilities). Meeting participants will also have an opportunity to indicate which criteria they feel are most crucial to the community.
Site location meetings will provide people an opportunity to express their ideas on possible locations for the Laramie County Library. Attendees will have an opportunity to rank the potential sites at the end of the meeting.
